If you want to backup your data so you have a copy outside of the app (for example so you can import it into another device when perhaps you buy a new iPhone) then you can use this feature. You are best advised to save it to your iCloud account so you can access the file on any device. You can get free storage on iCloud if you haven't signed up, then go to  https://www.icloud.com/  to do so.

To save your visit data to iCloud, do this:

1. Go to settings.

2. Press 'Backup & Restore'.

3. Press 'Save visit records to iCloud'.

4. If this is the first time you have use it, you may need to sign into iCloud.

5. Once you have signed in, use the iCloud browser to locate the folder you want to save it in, and press 'Open'.

For info, if you open the 'Files' app on your device, you can use that to view all your iCloud documents.

If you want to import some visit data, you can use this to either import data that you have saved from Tower Visit on another device, or you could populate the CSV file manually, which you may want to do if you have a lot of data already stored on a computer as this could be faster than entering historical data manually on TowerVisit.

You MUST enter either the TowerID field (this you can find in the Dove's website. For example, Skipton is 13655 - see https://dove.cccbr.org.uk/tower/13655 ) or if you don't have this, or already know the old Dove ID then you can enter that field instead (leaving the TowerID field empty and putting something in the doveID field will mean it will use this to identify the tower).

You also MUST enter the date in the visitDate field in the format dd-mm-yyyy and you MUST enter something for the type of visit in the visitType field. This is 1 for a ringing visit, 2 for a wedding, 3 for a quarter peal, 4 for a peal and 5 for any other type of visit.

All the other fields are optional and self explanatory. The first line of your CSV file should be as follows, with the data on subsequent lines and an empty file for you to use is attached here:

TowerID,doveID,visitDate,visitType,visitNote,methodName,methodDetails,ringingworldID
